Small update today (Now slightly less small)

Today's update is going to be smaller than usual, covering only two main things. Let's get into it

  • Variable jump height
    • The player's jump height is no longer fixed and will respond to how long the jump key is held.
      • This gives the player more control over their jump height and overall speed. I'm excited to see how players respond to this improvement.
  • Larger camera viewport.
    • Players now have more visibility, allowing for better viewing and navigating of current levels.
    • The goal here was to make the levels easier to understand and play through

That's it for today. As usual, these updates are available on all listed platforms. I've got some good stuff coming up, several bigger changes so keep your eyes peeled!

Edit: Got a bit more done today, I didn't think it was worth its own post, so just an update here.

  • The player death sequence is much more refined.
    • Most of the interactions that could interfere with the animation have been fixed.
      • Currently, the last remaining one is jumping, looking to have the fix shipped tomorrow
  • Added particle effects to the death animation
  • Modified level 3-1
    • updated look and platforming to the start section
  • Static hazard hitboxes modified and unified
    • I missed some of the hitboxes when I reworked spikes last time, they all share the same collision mask and should feel a little more forgiving
  • Added visual borders to saws, keys, and some other misc. objects.
  • Probably some more things I'm missing.
