Demo Update 1
Pathfinder: The Demolouge » Devlog
Day zero was a success!
Thanks for all the support on launch day everyone, Pathfinder reached a lot more people than I expected it to yesterday. Overall launch seemed to be pretty stable and I call that a win. There were however a couple of things that needed some attention, which brings us to today's update.
- Proper tracking of best times
- Thanks to Dustym600m for pointing this out, at launch the stored times for each level were you're previous times. It was functional, however, it was not the implementation I'd planned for release.
- Now when clearing a level you're saved time now properly reflect a personal best rather than last clear.
- The demo for Pathfinder isn't terribly long, however, each level was designed with enough variability that when going back and replaying levels there is headroom to chase faster times and more efficient clears.
- MOAR SPIKES
- Not actually.
- Even after addressing this several times during the soft launch last week, I still wasn't happy with the visibility of the hazards in the levels. They stood out fine, but it wasn't visually clear that if you walked into one from the side that it would hurt you. (unless it was a cactus!)
- reworked the static hazard sprites for both areas 1 (green) and area 2 (blue). They now better reflect objects that you wouldn't want to walk into.
That's the bulk of today's update, sometimes it's the small things that make the difference. I'm still working hard on new content looking past the demo, so that's about it for today. Thank you again for such a successful launch, and I hope you continue to enjoy Pathfinder!
